Fillmore County Economic
Development, York County Economic Development, and Seward County Economic
Development partnered with York College, Henderson Chamber, York Area Chamber,
Seward Area Chamber, the Nebraska Department of Labor and area high schools to
create the first ever Tri-County Job Fair and Career Fair on March 25th.
The Job Fair was held from
2:00-7:00 p.m. at the Campbell Center at York College. Fifty-one businesses set up booths with
information about their companies and the jobs that were available. Over 200
people attended the Job Fair. Those
attending could have resumes reviewed by Nebraska Workforce personnel and there
was also space to fill out applications on the spot and return it to the
businesses.
Nearly 160 students attend the Career Fair
in the morning and heard presentations by Senator Greg Adams and Mark Ketcham,
the Hudl Coach Relations Manager. Next
the students participated in panel discussions by business people involved in
the six business clusters. Panelist from Fillmore County included Kenton Moore of
Horizontal Boring & Tunneling, Karla Jacobson of Walter Real Estate, Mike
Haumont of Perennial Public Power and Lisa Hopken of the Fillmore County
Hospital. The students ended their day by visiting with
the vendors at the Job Fair.
