Exeter-Milligan Update: EM FCCLA Attends District Leadership Conference

EM FCCLA Attends District Leadership Conference

by Sam Stutzman, E-M FCS Instructor/FCCLA Advisor

On Wednesday, October 4 the Exeter Milligan FCCLA chapter attended their annual District Leadership Conference in Hastings, Nebraska. Twelve Exeter Milligan students attended the conference held at Central Community College. Students were able to see the campus as well as attend sessions tailored to various leadership qualities. Exeter Milligan’s Kierra Papik and Troy Kallhoff assisted in organizing and presenting at the conference.

Kierra Papik is the chapter’s District Officer who played an important role in organizing and executing a successful conference. She attended district planning meetings prior to and facilitated a group session with other district officers at the conference. Troy Kallhoff, Vice President, created and led a group session connecting this year’s FCCLA theme “Blazing New Paths” with Taylor Swift’s Era’s tour.

The day was a wonderful success and granted students the opportunity to connect with FCCLA members within our district as well as explore their leadership strengths.

Exeter-Milligan Update:Next Generation Bank Program

Next Generation Bank Program

By Madalynn Fousek, Exeter-Milligan 5th Grade Teacher

The 5th graders went through bank training earlier this year to prepare for the Next Generation Bank Program. They have been putting that training to good use since we started the program three weeks ago. Every Thursday, the 5th graders go to the K-5 classrooms to grab the students who have money to deposit. The 5th graders fill out deposit book slips and help them pick out a prize to enjoy after their deposit.

Exeter-Milligan Update: Computer Science

Computer Science update

By Lisa Soukup, Exeter-Milligan Media Specialist

The 6th Graders are busy adjusting to their new schedule. Last period of the day is Keyboarding class. We are trying to create good habits so planners are checked for homework, then they check their email and grades. We wind down with a little "Calm" meditation. After "Calm" we start with either Keyboarding lesson or Email Etiquette. We will gradually get to some study skills along with Keyboarding and end the year with some Computer Science.
