Exeter-Milligan Students Enjoy Young Reader Celebration

Exeter-Milligan celebrated Young Readers Week all  week long November 11 – 15th.  They ended the week with an event too big for their classrooms.  The students were divided up into groups and rotated between six stations where they experienced reading through hands on activities.  They sang books, made edible playdough, ate snacks and picked out their own book and learned how every book can be a play.  Above:  Second grade Teacher Mrs. Weber shows how each book can be a play.

L-R Amarah Carr, Savana Krupicka, Troy Kallhoff, Devin Harrison and Josh Meyer have fun eating snacks and checking out books with student teacher Sara Lincoln (l) and Media Specialist Lisa Soukup.

Exeter-Milligan First grade teacher reads “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie” to first graders (l-r) Emma Meyer, Jolene Vossler, Ayla Kahler and Carter Milton before they make some chocolate edible play dough (Para Dixie Krejci is in the background).

Second graders at Exeter-Milligan enjoy a snack as they check out some books with Media Specialist Lisa Soukup.  The second graders are from the left Josh Meyer, Devin Harrison, Amarah Carr, Savana Krupicka and Troy Kallhoff.

First graders sing a book with Mrs. Kassik.  They are from the left Jayden Capek, Liberty Johnson, Kierra Papik, Mikey Bartu and Aiden Vavra.

Fancy Nancy (aka Mrs. Myers) came to the Exeter-Milligan Young Readers Week to read to students.  Assisting the event was Jackson Krejci, who blew the whistle to rotate the groups.  Listening to the story are second graders left to right, Andrew Vavra, Tyler Due, Taylor Pribyl, Dravin Birkes, Savannah Horne and Trenton Vossler.
