Exeter-Milligan Update: American Government Class

Election season may be over for most, but for Mr. Jordan Marr’s American Government class at Exeter-Milligan, campaigning has just begun.  For the next month, students will be working as a team to get their candidate elected Government Class President.  During this project, students get the opportunity to understand the workings of campaign management and learn about the social issues of our time.  Pictured are Janey Due, Jack Dinneen, & Marietta Purtschert working hard on designing campaign posters.

Exeter-Milligan Update: Spanish Notes

Spanish Notes by Haley Stutzman, E-M Spanish Instructor

¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! What a busy year we have had so far! This last week in Spanish 1 we learned some important grammar concepts as well as information about an important holiday in Mexico. The first few days of the week we were learning the names of different places or businesses around town and giving locations. We did a project where the students made their own map of a town. On Thursday, we spent the day learning about El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), which takes place in Mexico on November 1st and 2nd and celebrates relatives and friends that have passed away. Aside from learning about the holiday, I also brought some native candy from Mexico for the students to try while they were working with the new holiday vocabulary. The candy I brought was a hard candy with a chili powder filling. Obviously, it was very different than our candy here in the United States. A fun ending to a busy week!
