eBook Library is Here for EMPS! By Lisa Soukup, E-M Media Specialist

Exeter-Milligan Public Schools has joined a consortium to purchase eBooks for our students. In December, some staff and a few students were able to pilot the project. January, all other students were able to acquire a username and password to access the eBooks. Several 7-12 students are able to use their iPods, iPads or phones to access and read the books.

The elementary are using their iPads to read the eBooks in school. Each student 2-6 has their own username and password and during library or free time they read their books. Kindergarten and First Graders are reading eBooks on their iPads but the teachers are checking the books out for them. The eBooks give our students the opportunity to utilize their iPads in a new way. Make sure you ask your child about the eBooks and the Magic Wall.

Summer reading is important and encouraged for all students K-12. To help keep your child reading, have them check out the Magic Wall and see what books are available. If you want your student’s user-name and password to keep them reading during the summer just follow the steps below.

1. Download BLIO on the device you plan to use for reading the E-books.
2. Email me @ lsoukup@emwolves.net  to get your child’s user-name and password for the Magic Wall and BLIO
3. Check out an eBook- Click the appropriate link below to check out a book. The first time you will be asked to link your eBook reader software (BLIO) to your library account.
4. Happy Reading!

Exeter-Milligan held their graduation on Saturday, May 10th.  The Exeter-Milligan seniors had chosen mint and sliver for their class colors and a gerber daisy for their class flower.

The seniors walked into the processional played by Jordyn Brandt and Ella Wilkins before Brooke Manning welcomed those in attendance.

The senior video was played which also shared the class motto spoken by Abraham Lincoln, "It's not the years in your life that counts, it's the life in your years."

Erica Yound and Kylie Briske alternated on stage sharing some of their senior memories.  Briske shared, "It took two villages to raise the 26 of us and we are thankful for all of the support you have given us."

The district then individually recognized the 8th grade graduates before presenting the class of 2014 and awarding their diplomas.  Dr. Sharon Kuska presented the diplomas for both the 8th grade and the seniors.  The class was presented before Toni Bossaller gave the closing remarks.

The seniors presented their parents with flowers and were also escorted out by their parents.

Helping our neighbors

Last night we had storms hit the area and they hit hard.  We feel very blessed that Exeter was spared in the path of the tornado.  We lost power for a few hours but thankfully Perennial Public Power District responded quickly and had our power restored.  Unfortunately our families and friends just to the north of us in the country, in Cordova, north of Cordova and in Beaver Crossing took a very direct hit.  The Village of Exeter and the Exeter Fire and Rescue Departments responded with equipment, generators and a helping hand.  The Governor is touring the area today and will head to Sutton which also sustained a great amount of damage.  We will keep all the area in our prayers and find out what we can do to help!  We are mostly thankful that there were no severe injuries or loss of life.  Homes, buildings and things can be replaced!
