Exeter-Milligan band/choir performs contest pieces

The Exeter-Milligan Junior Senior High band and choir students performed their contest pieces at a concert on Monday evening in Exeter.

The Junior/Senior High Choir opened with the well-known “Johnny B. Goode,” with eighth grader Braden Capek on the trap set.

The Junior High choir performed “A Distant Shore,” accompanied by Caitlin Murphy on the piano and then performed “Slow Rock and Roll.”

Next during the program several of the groups performed their contest pieces include a brass quartet playing “March and Gavotte,” followed by the saxophone choir on “Romance and Troika.”  The final group performing was the clarinet choir on “Meneuetto.”

The Friends of Vocal group performed an excellent rendition of “Si Vis Amari” to close the vocal portion of the program.

The Junior Senior High band did an excellent job on “Mamma Mia!” before performing their two contest pieces “Blue Ridge Saga,” and “Southern Star.”

The band and choir groups will travel to Henderson for District music contests on Thursday and Friday, April 19th and 20th.  On Thursday their individual and small group performances begin at 4:00 p.m. and the concert band performs Friday at 1:00 p.m. with audiences welcome at all performances.
