ANNUAL FCDC Meeting to be held in Exeter Feb 15



Former Lt. Governor & Fillmore County Native to Speak at the FCDC Annual Meeting
It has been announced that John E. Nelson, Former Lt. Governor & Fillmore County native, has accepted an invitation to speak at the Fillmore County Development Corporation’s annual meeting on February 15th.  The meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a social time at the St. Stephens parish hall in Exeter.  Nelson will give his remarks at about 2:30 and the 2015 annual meeting will follow. 
Everyone in the County is invited to attend the event whether or not they are currently a member of the Fillmore County Development Corporation. There is no charge.  Beverages and dessert will be served.
Mr. Nelson was appointed by Governor Dave Heineman as the Lt. Governor in October of 2014 after the previous Lt. Governor resigned.  Previous to that Nelson had served Nebraska as a State Senator for Legislative District 6 since 2007. While in the Legislature, he served as a member of the Legislature’s Appropriations Committee.
Nelson graduated from the Creighton University School of Law, and holds a degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Nelson graduated from Geneva High School as valedictorian. He and his wife Judy have three adult children.  As an active member of his community, Nelson has held several positions related to public and community service and is a member of several local organizations.
Nelson has been a private practice attorney since 1964, focusing in the areas of small business, estate planning, probate, and guardianships and conservatorships.
Additionally, Nelson is a retired Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He served his country as an active duty service member in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1960. He was a member of active reserve units at NAVRESCEN in Omaha from 1963-1983, with annual training on active duty including seminars at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, and the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.
