Exeter-Milligan Lady Timberwolves Successful Again

The first game of the Sub-Districts the Lady T-wolves played
Bruning/Davenport. The girls came out winning 53-38.

The Timberwolves moved on to play Dorchester in the
Sub-District Final. The T-Wolves won again by the score of
49-34.

The Timberwolves move on to play in the District finalagainst Diller-Odell.
The game is next Friday @ Wilber. Please wear black to support the girls.

Pumping Cement almost daily

Double cement trucks are waiting to dump - cement samples are also being pulled and tested.
Pouring the floor of the deep end of the pool.


Activity is almost constant. Erdkamp-Ekeler Construction has had their dump truck hauling dirt out constantly from the site along with Village Maintenance Supervisor John Mueller. The cement trucks are present daily with cement pumped into various sites around the pool. According to cement workers they poured the sloped deep end floor on Wednesday as well as the sides to the zero entry area.

Mid Plains Electric was present on Wednesday. It looked like they were doing some trenching for electrical lines.

The sand trucks from Overland are hauling in multiple loads every day still.

New Director of Nursing at Exeter Care Center

Exeter Care Center has recently hired a new Director of Nursing, Laura Lea, RN from McCool Junction. Lea comes to Exeter from The Hearthstone in York, Neb. During the past 23 years at The Hearthstone, Lea was a Restorative Nurse for seven years and the Director of Nursing for ten years.

It's a beauty!

Exeter's newest resident arrived this week. A self-service recycling trailer that was actually made in Nebraska!

Funding from the Nebraska Environmental Trust enabled the Village to purchase the 14 bin trailer that will be available to residents 24/7.

The trailer is located behind the American Legion Home in the alley.

What to bring and how to do it!

#1 Plastic (PETE) All plastic bottles that contain liquids consumed by humans are packaged in clear or colored # 1 PETE plastic bottles. Some other food such as catsup and salad dressing may also be this type but you must check the bottom number to be sure.
Examples: pop, cranberry juice, sports drinks, liquor
Preparations: rinse and discard lids

#2 Plastic (HDPE) This is a harder colored or white plastic is not clear.
Examples: milk and water jugs, laundry detergents, shampoo, coffee, some yogurt, margarine & cottage cheese containers. Check the bottom number to be sure
Preparations: rinse and discard lids, crush large containers

Tin Cans: These are most of the canned goods on your pantry shelves.
Preparations: Rinse, labels can be left on. Flatten gallon or large cans .

Aluminum cans: Pop, beer, sports drinks, some pet food containers. Pleases no pie tins or aluminum foil.
Preparations: rinse (Optional- remove pull tabs and save for Exeter Woman’s Club)

Newspapers: Daily, Sunday, or weekly publications
Preparations: no sorting of colored or slick pages is needed. Do not include plastic sleeves.

Magazines: all types of magazines are accepted.
Preparations: Remove any plastic wrapped covers or sleeves. No phone books



Corrugated cardboard: All boxes or packing boxes with a wavy core.
Examples: Grocery boxes, clean pizza boxes. Please no egg cartons, cereal boxes, 12 pack holders


What NOT to do!

Please do not use this trailer as your garbage dump!

Items must be clean and properly sorted or the recycling company will not accept the items.

DO NOT throw in bags, boxes, string or other “holders” along with the recycling items.

Moving mountains at the pool construction site

There has been a constant flow of trucks dumping sand, sand conveyed into pool areas, packed and ready to pour. Dump trucks have been moving more dirt out this week and it seems like the huge front end loader never stops running. The pictures above reflect from the top a skid loader dumping sand into the conveyor truck to be placed in the next picture next to the sump pit. The pit has been straightened and the pipes below are in place. Now the dirt around has been dug out extensively and it is being filled and packed with sand. In the bottom picture the footings for the zero entry area of the pool have been poured and the curved design is visible.

Mudjacking corrects problem

According to Village Maintenance Supervisor the engineers and architects of the pool design approved the mudjacking efforts used to straighten the poured pit walls that had tilted once their forms were removed (for more information read the Notes from the Village on the sidebar). Their all day efforts were finally successful just before 7 p.m. Thursday evening. This picture was taken around 6:00 p.m. as they were still working on the project. On top of the pump pit is Dave Henke from JEO Consulting while John Mueller is looking at their work. Tom Ekeler is standing next to the cab of the excavator.

Zero entry section of the pool started

Work began this week on digging out the zero entry section of the pool. If you drive by or look at the picture you can see that this area is very close to the existing sidewalk. The sidewalk and parking in this area will have to be removed. There will no longer be a baby pool as the zero entry area will serve that purpose. In addition it will allow pool guests who have disabilities or injuries to walk or be wheeled into the pool. Lots more loads of rock and special fabric were being placed in the zero entry area while this picture was taken.

Timberwolves have a tough loss at finals of CRC tournament

The Exeter-Milligan Twolves battled the Giltner Hornets in
the Crossroads Conference Championship game. The TWolves
came up short losing 52-41 in overtime.

Walls of the POOL poured Monday morning!!

The pumper truck spent most of the morning at the Exeter Pool Site on Monday. The walls of the deep end of the pool were poured into site built forms.
