Bonnie Jean Moses was born in Philip, SD on April 5, 1960 to Annabel and Gay Moses. She passed away on October 3, 2024 at the age of 64 years. She was one of six children in the family: Dennis, Joseph, Michael, Bonnie, Julie, and Donald.
She grew up in Philip, SD from birth until 19 years old. She attended Philip Public School and graduated in 1978. She played basketball, softball and track while in high school. She played the french horn in band and sang in the choir.
After high school she started traveling the United States. Some of the places that she traveled to include Denver, Colorado; Casper, Wyoming; Carson City, Nevada; Garland, Texas and Hugo, Oklahoma. She then moved to Rapid City, South Dakota where she received her cosmetology license.
On May 11, 1984 her daughter Sara was born in Philip, SD. On October 11, 1993 her daughter Taylor was born in Rapid City, SD.
While living in South Dakota after cosmetology school Bonnie had her own shop called Corner Cuts from 1990-1995. Then she moved to Fairmont, Nebraska in 1995. There she began working at Champion Homes until 2001. In 2004 she opened a beauty shop called Sheer Image in Exeter. Then in 2005 she cut hair at the Lincoln Regional Center until 2009.
In 2000 she met David. Together they raised five children; Sara, Taylor, Sarah, Patrick and Jonathon. They helped raise their grandson, Brekken for the first six years of his life. They lived in Exeter and Fairmont. They still reside in Exeter in the house they remodeled together.
May 11, 2010 she was diagnosed with AML Leukemia and began treatments. She had a stem cell transplant in 2011 and was in remission for 9 years. The cancer came back in 2020.
During remission Bonnie and David enjoyed camping, fishing, going to garage sales, and she even went golfing a few times. They did some traveling to Texas, Kansas and South Dakota. Occasionally Bonnie would travel to see family by herself. Bonnie loved doing crafts, especially the wreaths that she would make and give away.
She battled bravely for the last 14 years with David by her side until the end.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; Annabel and Gay. Father-in-law Dan. Brother-in-law Dan Jr and his wife Stevie. Step Son Jonathon. One niece Shanda.
Survived by David (spouse) of 24 years. Siblings: Dennis (Donna), Joseph (Michalee), Julie (Todd), Michael (Shar), and Donald (Wanda). Sister-in-law’s: Crystal (Jeff) and Sue (Jon). Children: Sara, Taylor, Sarah and Pat (Stephanie). 9 Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday October 15, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion; 232 S Exeter Ave, Exeter, NE 68351.
