Throwback Thursday: 10/06/2013

10/06/2013

On Friday, September 27, the fifth grade class participated in a Mystery Skype. A Mystery Skype is a program used with the video messaging system, Skype, where students use questioning and deduction skills to figure out where the other class is "Skyping" from. After asking a series of yes or no questions, we were able to pinpoint the location of the other fifth grade class. They were from Council Bluffs, Iowa.

The fifth grade had a great time as this was their first Mystery Skype. They can't wait to do this again throughout the year.

This year, the Exeter-Milligan Elementary have been very fortunate to go 1:1 with iPads.  This means that each child in the elementary has their own iPad to use in the classroom.  Pictured are the 3rd graders busy on their Ipads.  We have been using many apps on them to study our math facts, take quizzes, and review for tests.  We have loved getting to use them everyday and try new things in our classroom!

A Funeral Service  for Lori L. Brandt was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cordova, with Rev. Nile Buch, officiating.

The Fillmore County Development Corporation (FCDC) in cooperation with the Fillmore County schools, the Young Leaders of Fillmore County (YLFC) and local businesses held a Career Day for the juniors in the county on September 25th.  The format for the day involved having the students go to the business locations, rather than the business people coming to the school.

Three tracks were developed so students had a choice and could decide what area interested them the most.  The tracks were Agriculture and Industrial Systems, Education, Health and Human Services, and Business, Marketing and Finance.

Mary Kay Pribyl's Math Matters class at Exeter-Milligan is reviewing the different sets of numbers. As we discussed which sets several rational and irrational numbers belonged to, we also put these numbers on a number line across the room.

Make a Difference Day” will be observed again this year in Exeter by the G.F.W.C. Exeter Woman’s Club on October 15th.

This event is one of the nation’s largest days of serves and takes place each October in America.

The Woman’s Club members in Exeter prepare plates of cookies and as they deliver the plates to the Exeter Care Center and to people in the community they take time to visit with them as well.

Congrats to the Fillmore Central Exeter-Milligan Softball team as they won the district playoffs beating Friend 8 - 0 this afternoon!  Good luck at State Ladies!

Also, the Exeter-Milligan Timberwolf football team beat the 4-0 Freeman Falcons 68-14 tonight in Milligan.

The Fillmore County Development Corporation (FCDC) hosted staff from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and economic development consultants from Nebraska Public Power District and Black Hills Energy, on September 27th.

The group toured throughout Fillmore County and had the opportunity to see the available industrial sites and buildings in Exeter, Fairmont, and Geneva. Patt Lentfer, Director of the FCDC, also shared information about the communities and businesses throughout the county.
