Code Books – Activated!
By Laura Steuben, K-5 SPED Instructor and Interventionist
The first graders at Exeter-Milligan have been learning a lot of new sounds in reading. EM has a new reading curriculum this year and it has been a beneficial addition to the Language Arts program. Students in first grade used mirrors to visualize their mouth formation when saying the new sound they learned and then they “activated” the sound in their code books. The code books are a reference for them to review each vowel and consonant sound they have learned.
