Exeter graduate inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame

 

Nearly 1,100 victories in two sports is the record Coach Jody Rhodes compiled in volleyball and basketball at Paxton before his retirement after the 2021-2022 school year. His teams were State Champions five times in volleyball and twice in boys basketball. In the 1994-1995 school year he coached State Championships in both of those sports. The Exeter native and his wife, Lisa, came to Paxton in 1985 after starting his career at Emerson-Hubbard.  He coached girls' basketball for his first three years (43-11) at Paxton before switching to boys (563-215). The Tigers were State Champions in 1995 and 2000 and runners-up in 1999 and 2013. His volleyball tenure ran from 1992-2018, with a (487-161) record.  Paxton was  State Champion in 1994, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007 and was runner-up in 2005. Jody was the World Hearld Girls Coach of the Year in 2004.  Rhodes graduated with the Exeter High School class of 1979.
