The E-M art students are wrapping up their contest entries and taking home their artwork as we are nearing the end of the school year. We had many students recognized for outstanding art thanks to the Exeter Area Women’s Club for collecting and judging the artwork. There will be one more display this year of Kindergarten- 4th grade art that will not be going home in the students’ portfolios as we have been asked to submit artwork to the Fillmore County Fair display again this year. These works of art will be returned to the school after the fair and I will send them home next school year. I am extremely pleased with the growth of so many of our talented young artists. From the beginning of school until now each elementary class has worked in a variety of media from tissue paper collage and foil sculptures to printmaking, watercolor techniques and paper mache. The 7th graders have art first semester and E-M offers 4 levels of art in high school. The high school students worked on a variety of things as well from agamographs and chalk pastel portraits to batik designs and fiber coil baskets.

We have recently started working on spray paint that was introduced in January at our
Cohort day with a workshop by Nate Bockus. Art IV student Colton Bossaller has wanted to work with spray paint and it is finally time to give it a try. We display the artwork in our schools, on twitter and on our online gallery called artsonia. Each year the parents have to give permission for the artwork to be made public on artsonia but you can see years of artwork created by our Exeter-Milligan students. Thanks so much for supporting the arts and encouraging creativity in our communities and among our youth.
