First grade teacher
Our Reading Goals every day in First Grade are:
Phonics-knowing that words are made up of letters for reading; Phonemic
Awareness-understanding that words are made from small units of sounds;
Fluency-being able to read with speed, accuracy and expression;
Vocabulary-knowing words in order to communicate with one another; and
Comprehension-understanding what a text is all about. We accomplish these goals
each day with Reading Mastery, Core 5, and Academic Games. Students are playing
"I Love Bugs" game practicing vowel pairs in the picture.
