One of the GFWC/NFWC Exeter Woman's Club projects this year has been the sewing of No-No Arm Bands/Splints for Operation Smile. Pictured above are Agnes Loukota and Bonnie Cudaback, who did the sewing of the 135 bands.
Throughout the world, Operation Smile volunteers repair childhood facial deformities while building public and private partnerships that advocate for sustainable healthcare systems for children and families. Together, smiles, changed lives and healing humanitiy are created.
The arm bands/splints prevent children from bending their arms and touching their faces after their surgery. These simple arm bands help keep the surgical incision clean and promote healing of a child's new smile. The arm bands use tongue depressors to create the splint. These tongue depressors were provided by Julia Polak.
