Exeter School Board Meets Tonight

During the March 7th meeting of the Exeter-Milligan School Board the Board members discussed and voted on a Reduction In Force measure.

According to the published minutes, “Discussion was opened concerning the Reduction in Force (RIF) proposed by the administration in the music department.  The reasoning behind the possible RIF pertained to the decrease in the enrollment of students in the music program.  There are no planned cuts of the music program.  The current and future enrollments dictate the position can be successfully filled by a 1.0 FTE.”

Later during the meeting a motion was made by Tim Pribyl and seconded by Brent Moore to approve the Reduction in Force resolution.  The motion passed unanimously.

Music Instructor Shane Whitford confirmed that he received a RIF letter following the March 7th school board meeting and Superintendent Paul Sheffield confirmed that a RIF letter had been sent.  Both declined to comment on the situation.  Sheffield added that he would comment after the April 11th board meeting.
