EMF Goes 4-0 to Start Season

Slater Wells takes down the Thayer Central ball carrier.

The Bobcats didn't take long to show their dominance on the field in Hebron.  Just over two minutes into the game Spencer Pribyl tossed a pass to Max Zeleny who hauled down the line to get it within a few yards of the end zone. Edwen Baptista took an option pass from Pribyl and he was in for six.  He hauled in two more points to bring the score to 8 - 0.

Thayer Central tried to get on the board after they took the kick off through the Bobcat defense into the end zone but the touch down was called back for a penalty.

After turning the ball over to Exeter-Milligan/Friend Pribyl tossed an option to Zeleny who dodged tacklers to just clip the end zone for another six points.  With 6:09 left in the first quarter the score was 14-0.

After three and out for the Titans, Manning took the kick off return all the way down the field into the end zone.  Pribyl tossed a pass to Baptista that was good for the two points.  With 4:29 left in the first quarter the score was 22-0.

At the start of the second quarter Thayer Central found the end zone and posted six but could not convert for two.

Manning again wove his way through defenders with the kick off return and hit pay dirt.  Unfortunately, an illegal block penalty brought the ball back to the 34 yard line.

It wasn't long before the Bobcats clawed their way down the field with a pass to Beethe who was brought down at the one yard line.  Manning took the ball in for six but the conversion was denied.

With 8:18 left in the half the score was 28-6.  Pribyl found the end zone on a run with 2:26 left in half bringing the score to 34-6. But the Bobcats weren't done yet.  Pribyl sent a pass to Beethe in the end zone with just 13 second left in the half.  Bossaller caught the two point conversion and the halftime score was 42-6.

The third quarter didn't slow down the Bobcats.  Manning ran in for another touchdown with Beethe catching the two point conversion in the end zone.  Score was now 50-6.

Zeleny had an interception but was hit hard and the ball broke loose.  Thayer Central recovered and on their first play the toss was intercepted by Beethe on the five yard line and run back to the 35.

The coaching staff subbed in reserves with three minutes left in the third quarter (the JV game scheduled with Thayer Central for Monday afternoon was canceleed).

After a tough fight the Titans scored with 10 minutes left in fourth quarter. The two point conversion toss was intercepted by Beethe.

The Bobcats #23 Dylan Bonds broke loose and ran in for six but the two point conversion failed.  Score was 56-12.  The Titans found the end zone again with 5:53 left in the game and tacked on another eight but the Bobcats had the last word.  Weber kept the ball and found the end zone with 33 seconds left in the game.  The final was 62 to 20.

The Bobcats have a bye week before meeting Osceola/High Plains on September 28th in Friend.

EMF Goes 3-0 on Season Downs Lourdes Central Catholic

EMF Bobcats saw the weather break just as their game started in Milligan on Friday night. Damp, slippery grass made for a few challenges on the field Friday night.

The Bobcats got on the board first on a Spencer Pribyl pass to Max Zeleny with 5:51 left in the first quarter.

Nebraska City Lourdes Central Catholic found the end zone on their next set of downs but the touchdown was called back for illegal formation and holding as well.

The Bobcats came back strong with Mitchell Manning snaking through a battalion of Knights for a first down close to the end zone.  Pribyl tossed an option pass to Baptista for another score and the Bobcats posted  up 12-0.

Lourdes challenged the Bobcats on the next set of downs when on their second down they broke loose on a 65 yard run into the end zone bringing the score to 12-6 with 1:23 left in the first quarter.

After another huge Manning run, Pribyl kept the ball and snuck in the end zone. On the two point conversion attempt the ball got loose in the rain and Baptista scrambled and came up with the ball in the end zone. The Bobcats ended the first quarter 20-6.
Beginning the second quarter on a first down Lourdes fumbled, Baptista recovered at the Bobcat 27. Taking over, the Bobcats fumbled at their own 13 turning the ball over to Lourdes who were not able to capitalize on the turnover.

Lourdes fourth down punt to the Bobcats wasn't contained by EMF and Lourdes retain possession and capitalized on it with a pass hauled down into the end zone.  The score was 20 -12 but there were 10 minutes left in the quarter.
Pribyl passed to Manning for a 60 yard run down to the 13 with 21 seconds left in the half.
The Bobcats found paydirt in the end zone with Pribyl passing to Baptista in the end zone. They tacked on two more with Pribyl finding Zeleny ending the half at 28-12.

The second half of the game Lourdes kicked off sending an on-site kick rolling down the middle of the field.  After the scramble Lourdes came up with the football.  On third and thirteen the Knights decided to pass down the sidelines and Zeleny picked it off and ran it down to the 20.  Pribyl found Zeleny and he brought it down to the four before Pribyl kept it and slipped into the endzone for another six.

Manning took the option in for two pumping the Bobcats up to 36 - 12 with 6:28 left in the third quarter.
At the beginning of the fourth the Bobcats found themselves in good shape again after converting a fourth and one.  Pribyl held on to the ball and found the end zone starting the quarter 42-12.

The final score of the game came on a option from Pribyl to Christian Weber who followed a great Zeleny block into the end zone. 48-12 with 7:32 left in the game. Slater Wells sacked the Lourdes quarterback and Ryan Sharp also logged a sack.

EMF Downs Palmyra 60-28 in Friend

It didn’t take long for the EMF Bobcats to start spinning the scoreboard in Friend Friday night.

After three and out for the Palmyra Panthers, on second down EMF quarterback Spencer Pribyl tossed a pass to Max Zeleny who took the ball straight into the end zone for six with Mitchell Manning handling the two point conversion.

Once again the Bobcat defense put their claws out stopping the Panther offense.  The Bobcats, with the ball again, had a holding call and then a fumble recovered by Nick Hayek.  On the very next play Pribyl sent the ball into the end zone for another six points.

With four minutes left in the first quarter Pribyl handed off to Manning who ran in for another six points but the two point attempt was denied.  Palmyra got on the board with just one minutes left in the first quarter bringing the score to 20-6.

It was Edwen Baptista’s turn next with a 32 yard run and he also caught the two point conversion pass.  The Panthers turn was cut short again by the Bobcat defense and on fourth down they punted to Manning who had an incredible punt return ending up close to the 8 yard line of EMF.  Manning took it in for a touchdown bringing the score to 28-6

The Bobcats stopped the Panther run and took over on fourth down.  The first play out of the huddle had Pribyl sending the ball down to Bossaller who headed into the end zone for another six points.  Now the score was 34-6.

The Panther’s couldn’t catch any breaks but Max Zeleny managed to pick off a Koby Dillon pass and take it  home for a pick 6 bringing the lead to 40-6 with five minutes left in the first half.
Pribyl connected with Zeleny again for six points and Casey Jindra caught the two point conversion. 48 to 6 with 3:44 left in the half.

Palmyra quarterback Koby Dillon sent a ball into the endzone with Kane White catching a pass for the extra two.  New score is 48-14 and we haven’t made it to the half.  Before the half Johnny Babula got a QB sack and the first series out of the half Manning grabbed a Pribyl handoff for a 59 yard run and six points.  Pribyl’s conversion pass was batted down in the end zone. 54-14

With a running clock the Bobcat coaches sent in the second offense and defense.  At the start of the fourth quarter Palmyra scored bringing the score to 54-22 which stopped the running clock but it restarted when Manning took a Pribyl handout for six.  Palmyra scored once more but the two point conversion was intercepted by Casey Underwood in the end zone.  Final was 60-28.

EMF Bobcats Bring Home Win to Start Season

The EMF Bobcats headed south for their first game as a new team.  Although Tri-County was just a few degrees south the atmosphere Friday night felt like the team had landed straight in the deep south.  The circada were chattering, you could see the humidity in the air and the gnats, mosquitos and a muriad of other critters were flying and landing.

This didn't stop the Bobcats from stirring up some dust to leave the Trojans in starting right off with Edwen Baptista finding the end zone for six on a run just six minutes into the quarter.  The Bobcats first attempt at a two point conversion was called back on a holding penalty.

The Trojans struggled to make any yardage at all under the dominating defense of the Bobcats.  Back at it again Mitchell Manning found the end zone for six but the team could not complete the two point conversion making the score 12-0.

Mixing it up a little quarterback Spencer Pribyl tossed one right to Jackson Beethe who found the end zone.  This time the two point pass to Bossaller was complete. 20-0
The score was 28-0 before long and Bossaller dragged one down from Pribyl before being stopped at the 5 yard line.  Baptista punched it in and Pribyl completed the 2 point conversion pass to Trever Zelenka.

Freshman Christian Weber intercepted a Trojan pass to give the ball to the Bobcats again.  With nineteen seconds left in the first half Zelenka caught a Pribyl pass in the end zone untouched.  Max Zeleny pulled down the Pribyl pass for the extra two points and the score was 44-0.

Zeleny was hot on the trail of the Trojans and recovered a Trojan fumble for a touchdown.  Manning takes the option in for two points to bring the score to 52-0 just two minutes into the second half.

The second half went quickly for both teams with the coaching staff subbing in many of the roster giving everyone plenty of play time.  The subs played well holding the Trojans to just one score with just over a minute left in playing time and forcing them to finally punch it in on a fourth down with just half a yard to go.

The Bobcats will be in Friend Friday, Aug 31 to meet Palmyra at 7 p.m.  Tailgate at 6 p.m.
