Maybe you've noticed
the outhouse in town? It's a real outhouse, really!
The outhouse was the
brainchild of Linda Underwood. Linda, who is a volunteer on the silent
auction committee, had heard rumors for years that they would love to auction
off an outhouse. She approached the Exeter Chamber of Commerce to see if
they would donate the funds for the supplies to build the outhouse.
Once the Exeter
chamber agreed to sponsor the outhouse, Underwood contacted Exeter Lumber who
donated their time to construct the outhouse. Terry Volkmer and Linda
tackled the beautifying of the outhouse which included the names of all of the
businesses who are members of the Exeter Chamber along with beautiful sunflowers
painted on the outside.
During the June 1 and
2 Nebraska Cattlemen's Ball which will be held in McCool Junction, the outhouse
will be auctioned off during a silent auction.
Not once, but twice in
the last two and a half years Caitlin Murphy has grown her hair beyond the 10
inches required to donate to Locks of Love. The first time was just before she
entered the second grade, in August of 2009.
“The first time it was
pretty hard (cutting off her hair)but this time I was kind of ready to get it
cut off. It made me feel like I was helping. I think someone was
happy when they got the wig,” said Murphy.
She regrew her hair
and with a few trims a year to keep it healthy it was just over 11 inches in
late February. She doesn’t have any plans to do it again especially since it
gets difficult to care for when it gets that long.
New Signs in Exeter
notified peddlers and door to door salesman that they must get a permit before
selling in town. If someone comes to your door to sell something don't
forget to ask for their permit. If they don't have one, please remind
them that the need to visit the village office during business hours to apply
for a permit.
The other new signs
direct trucks to the newly established truck route which leads them directly to
the coop. The village board hopes to minimize street damage by
establishing a route for trucks.
The Exeter-Milligan elementary students will
present their spring program, "My Favorite Things," on Tuesday, March
27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Milligan gymnasium. The concert will feature the
third grade class playing boomwhackers, the fourth grade class playing
recorders, the fifth grade band, the sixth grade band, and the Sing Around
Nebraska group singing a song from their festival. The K-6 large group
will open with the song "My Favorite Things" from The
Sound of Music. Each grouping of students will then sing
some of their favorite songs from our music books. We will conclude the concert
with "E-M's Favorite Things." This is a song arranged by the
sixth grade class. The students took favorite things from each of the
elementary classes and rewrote the words to make them appropriate for our K-2,
3-4, and 5-6 grade students. They also used a computer program called
GarageBand and added some percussion and guitar to the song. We are
looking forward to performing their arrangement.

Megan Waldron, Becca Vossler, Claire White and Sierra Christensen.

are Dalton Zelenka, Jesse Hall, Robert Harre, Alex Benorden, Brody Kresak, Kyle
Jensen, Dusty Axline, Robbie Androyna, James Sluka, Huntington Trauger, Broc
Mueller, Quinten Loontjer, Nate Bigelow and Wyatt Clift.
Former Exeter Resident and 1949 Exeter High
School graduate Gaylord Becker fell to his death on Tuesday in Exeter at the
building where he stored his old cars (adjacent to the Tag Factory).
