Exeter-Milligan Students Honored in Academic All State List

The Lincoln Journal Star released it's Academic All-State students and the following Exeter-Milligan students were honored:

Zane Ehnes, Senior - Track and Field

Madelyn Emshoff, Senior - Softball, Girls Basketball

Amber Filipi, Senior - Track and Field, Girls Basketball

Justina Kassik, Senior - Volleyball, Girls Basketball

Mackenzie Thomsen, Senior - Softball, Track and Field

Travis Yound, Junior - Football, Boys Basketball

Exeter Care Center Hosts Volunteer Tea

Exeter Care Center volunteers were treated to a musical performance by the contemporary gospel group the McClellan Sisters of Adams, Neb. The 45 minute show included numerous gospel and modern Christian numbers performed by the sisters who are between the ages of seven and 17.

More than thirty volunteers attended and their names were entered in a drawing for a cookbook. They were also honored with a beautiful tea of cheesecake and a variety of fresh fruit and cake.

The volunteers assist with church services, play cards and host bingo every week.

Progress Marches on at the Swimming Pool

The cement deck between the pool and the bathhouse has been poured.

Here you can see the zero entry area of the pool complete with the bathhouse in the background.

The crew has prepared the area around the deep end and one side of the zero entry area deck to be poured soon.

Vinyl siding is going up on the ends of the structure in this picture on Tuesday.

Exeter Spring Clean - Up Next Two Weekends

The Dumpster will be located at the city shop - 221 S. Burlington Avenue

Accepted Items include: Junk, bricks, small furniture, etc.

NO TIRES, NO APPLIANCES, NO BATTERIES, NO OIL OR PAINT AND NO SHINGLES

Grass clippings and tree limbs can be dumped along the sewer road as normally provided by the Village.

Ryan Harre Leading State in 100 Meter Dash in Class D

Congratulations to Exeter-Milligan Junior Ryan Harre who leads the state in the Class D 100 Meter dash at 10.9 seconds.

Justin Hall honored at York High school Honor Night

Justin Hall, son of Randy and Stacey Hall of York (formerly of Exeter), was honored Wednesday night at the York High School Honors night as the Man of the Year for the Junior Class.

Justin is also the grandson of Bernice Hall and Larry and Bonnie Cudaback.

Final section of the pool poured Thursday

Mert Christiansen, pool contractor, points out the grout that was poured under the new stainless steel gutters on Wednesday. He explained that with the grout in place the rest of the pool can be poured along with the decking around the pool. The cement will have to cure for at least a month before the pool can be painted and readied for pool season. He accounts the excellent winter for the good progress the crew has made.

The Exeter GFWC Woman's Club host their Annual Welcome Event

Arbor Day is Friday, April 24th this year in Nebraska. For the Exeter Federated Woman's Club,
it has become a tradition to honor the new babies who were born since last years Arbor Day
by inviting them and their families to come to a party in their honor. This years observance will be held at the United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall at 10:00 AM. All of the honoree's family and friendsare cordially invited.

Exeter Woman's Club members and everyone in the community are welcome to come and enjoy
meeting these new babies. The second grade class from the Exeter School and their teacher, Mrs. Weber, will present a short program about Arbor Day. Members of the school administration, the Village board and the Woman's Club will also present a short program.

Seedling trees will be given to each family and the second grade students will also receive trees to be taken home to plant. A single larger tree will be planted in honor of all the babies of the 2008-2009 year.

Please feel welcome, everyone, to attend this celebration without further invitation. Bring along your cameras.

There will be extra trees available for children of past Arbor Day Celebrations, whose trees did not survive. These trees will be available by coming to the church on that day to pick up a new tree at about 10:45 or by calling 266-4461, or 266-4331, or 5763444.

Pool Project Progresses Some More

This is the door to the outdoor bathroom - they poured the pad this week that is adjacent to the door. This is in the south west corner of the building.
The pad behind the pump area was also poured this week.
The forms are set up and ready for concrete to be poured around the entire pool. This will make it easier to see how deep the pool is - the gutters which are the pool drainage system raised the depth of the pool over 12 inches.
The roof is nearly completed and plumbing work has been constant throughout the week.
