By Darcy White, Exeter-Milligan PE Instructor and Activities Director
Eight students from Exeter-Milligan (Back: Kiley Oldehoeft, Selah Petersen, Cheyenne Krupicka, Kmila Benitez; Front: Mikey Bartu, Brett Kallhoff, Cohen Harre, and Adrien Mueller) had the amazing opportunity to attend the Sportsmanship and Leadership Summit on Friday, November 17 as representatives of our school. This incredible opportunity was a testament to each of the kid's exceptional leadership and sportsmanship qualities, as recognized by the E-M faculty and staff.
The students joined nearly 300 other students at Lincoln North Star High School and were fortunate to hear some amazing speakers talk about how to become better leaders, how to lead by example, and how to demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship. Speakers like Rob Miller, who spoke about the Seven Ways to Lead and Sportsmanship - Student/Fan Behavior: Be Different, Be Noticeable & Be Appealing, and 2-time Husker Volleyball National Champions, Mikaela Foeke Richter and Kenzie Maloney detailed how leadership and sportsmanship helped them become better athletes and people. Some of the highlights were; A Dynamic Duo - Sportsmanship and Leadership Work Together, Sportsmanship Through Relationships, Leading with Order, and Sportsmanship Amid Complexity.
This is the 24th year of this summit being presented to students across the state of Nebraska but was the first time for E-M students to attend the event.
