Exeter-Miligan Update: Language Arts

Language Arts Happenings
by Valerie Barnhart, E-M Language Arts Instructor

April is National Poetry Month.  In the photo, speech students are shown working on figurative language with creating poetry.   The freshmen in speech class are memorizing poetry for next year’s Poetry Out Loud competition.  Shown in photo: Kayla Geiger, Jacy Schlueter, Ty Underwood, and Wyatt Motis.

Exeter-Milligan sophomores read the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare this spring.  Shakespeare uses a great deal of figurative language in the play.  Sophomores in the photo include Mitchell Manning, Spencer Pribyl, Peytan Brandt, Shae Tresch, Trever Zelenka, Blake Steuben, Katherine White, and Josie Kresak.

In another photo is pictured Johnny Babula, Joel Klemm, Colton Bossaller, Kate Jansky, James Becker, Macy Due, and Theron Odvody.

The Exeter-Milligan Speech team competed at eight events during the season.  They spent time in practices and perfecting their material for competition.  The team included Samantha Horne, Ella Wilkins, Katie Skinner, Haylee Sheffield, and Caitlin Murphy.  Caitlin is pictured at district competition in persuasive speaking during her final round.  The team did an outstanding job!
