Obituary for Tess E. Moor

Obituary for Tess E. Moor

Theressa Ellen “Tess” Moor was born to Joseph and Anna (Haffey) Hays on April 22, 1932, on the family farm near Edison, Nebraska, and she passed away on December 20, 2016, in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 28 days. Tess was the last of ten children born in the family.

Tess, as she was affectionately known by all, attended country school through the sixth grade and then enrolled in school in Edison, where she graduated with the class of 1949. Following graduation, she was employed with Farmers & Merchants Bank in Edison. She then went to Lincoln for employment with Union Insurance Company. In 1955 she was united in marriage to Max Becker. This union ended 17 days later when Max tragically lost his life in a well drilling accident. She remained in Exeter following his death before returning to her former employment in Lincoln. She then took a position with First National Bank in Exeter. She was united in marriage to Duane Moor of Exeter in May of 1958, and to this union three children were born: Denice, Brenda, and Brian. Duane passed away April 24, 1999.

Tess was a member of the Exeter American Legion Auxiliary Post 218 for 58 years and was active in St Stephen’s Altar Society. She enjoyed helping her neighbors as needed. She very much enjoyed her family and family reunions. The highlight of her life was her two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

For being a transplant, Tess embodied Exeter. She was a staple in the community, and you couldn’t think of one without the other. She will be missed.

Tess was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Max and Duane; 5 sisters; 3 brothers; and 1 nephew.

She leaves to mourn her passing daughters Denice Kovanda and husband Glenn of Milligan and Brenda Moor of Riverton, Wyoming; son Brian “Stub” Moor of Exeter; grandchildren Abby Vollmer and husband Chris of Hickman, and Clayton Kovanda and wife Alyssa of Geneva, Nebraska; great grandchildren Ava & Paige Vollmer and Ulysses Kovanda; her sister Mick of Elwood; and a host of relatives and friends.

Agnes Anderson accompanied the congregation and Jessica Ruhl was the cantor.
