Several youth from St. John’s Cordova, attended the
Gathering of Talents at Concordia University, Seward, on April 14. The
Gathering is held annualy for youth up to 8th grade to perform in
the areas of music, art, dance, drama, and creative writing. The youth are
judged by Concordia students.
In the music category participants were: 4th
grader, Sarah Casper, piano, Excellent rating; 4th grader, Danielle
Klenke, piano, Superior rating; 5th grader Peytan Brandt, snare drum
solo, Superior rating; 7th grader, Ella Wilkins, piano, Superior
rating; and Trystan Brandt, trumpet solo, Outstanding rating (purple ribbon).
In the art category particiants were: Madison Zumpfe, 2-D
Art, Excellent rating; Kindergartener, Devin Harrison, 3-D Art, Superior
rating; 3rd grader, Cammie Harrison, 3-D Art, Excellent rating; 4th
grader, Danielle Klenke, 2-D Art, Superior rating; 5th grader,
Peytan Brandt, pencil drawing, Superior rating; and 7th grader,
Trystan Brandt, computer generated art, Excellent rating.
The elementary Sunday School class performed a puppet show
receiving an Excellent rating, and the Jr. High Sunday School class performed a
dramatic skit receiving an Excellent rating.
The event concluded with a concert and awards ceremony.
