A Nebraska Wesleyan senior biology student has been awarded the University of Nebraska Medical Center's (UNMC) highest honor for undergraduate research presentations at the Nebraska Academy of Sciences.
Allee Kuska of Exeter has been honored with a $500 award for her presentation on innate immune responses to virus infections of the respiratory tract. The award was presented at the annual Nebraska Academy of Sciences, held in April.
UNMC's Biomedical Research Training Program and MD/PhD Scholars Program annually presents awards to the top two presentations.
Kuska has conducted research through the Nebraska INBRE Program for the past two summers. The INBRE Program provides opportunities for competitive biomedical research. Faculty and students receive support to develop research projects. Nebraska Wesleyan is part of the Nebraska INBRE Network. Kuska has conducted her research in the lab of of NWU biology professor Terry McGinn.
