E-M Fights Hard at Lawrence Nelson, Loses 48-8
Trevor Luzum looks for a way around the Raiders during Friday nights loss against Lawrence-Nelson.
Exeter-Milligan traveled to Lawrence Nelson Friday facing the #6 ranked Raiders on their home turf. After losing to the Timberwolves the last two years (66-24 in 2014 and 34-28 in 2015) the Raiders were looking for some redemption.
L-N busted into the end zone within the first two minutes putting up 8 points at the 10:40 mark. The Timberwolves got close to making a set of first downs but fell short. The Raiders were on the move again when Cameron White batted down a critical third down pass leaving the L-N team at 4th and 5. The Raiders took a chance and coverted with 5:44 left in the first quarter bringing the score to 16-0.
L-N decided to do a on-site kick and despite the Timberwolves putting up a huge fight the Raiders were given the ball. They moved the ball down quickly to the end zone on a run and slid into the end zone for another eight points with 2:09 left on the clock. Raiders were at 24-0.
The Timberwolves brought the ball down to the eight yard line but just couldn't punch the ball in. Raiders got possession on downs and with 7:10 left in the second quarter they moved the score up to 32-0.
The Timberwolves were making some progress but had a holding call which brought the ball back. They punted to the Raiders and gave L-N more advantage with a personal foul called on the Timberwolves. The Raiders found the end zone again with 3:10 left in the first half bringing the score to 40-0.
E-M got some help from the Raiders after Cameron White caught a Spencer Pribyl pass but there was a face mask call against the Raiders. Trevor Luzum had a huge run that got him close to the end zone but a holding penalty brought the ball back to the 12 yard line. Luzum carried it again to the 8 yard line but on fourth and eight the pass was blocked by the Raiders and time ran out on the half.
The Timberwolves found the end zone during the second half after Trevor Luzum found a gap to get downfield. Colton Bossaller punched it in while Seth Maxson caught the 2 point conversion in the end zone.
The Raiders got in the end zone one more time bringing the final score 48-8. The Timberwolves travel to Pawnee City Friday night.

Exeter-Milligan Falls to Giltner at home opener
The final score of 56-22 doesn't truly reflect the battle that went down in Milligan Friday night. It was a David versus Goliath battle when it came to size and experience.
Giltner, with almost half of their team at over 200 pounds, and more than half of the team upperclassmen, left the Timberwolves on an uphill climb.
The Hornets got on the board with 8:11 left in the first quarter when #13 Alex Goracke threw a pass to #5 Rees Lyon who streaked down the field.
The conversion attempt was a pass out of bounds.
Exeter-Milligan's Trevor Luzum took the kick-off into the end zone but it was called back due to a block in the back around the Timberwolves 30 yard line.
With a minute left in the first quarter Giltner passed another one into the end zone making a pitch work for the two points.
In the second quarter it was Giltner again with a 70 yard pass to make the score 20-0 and a quick conversion to bring it to 22-0.
Luzum received the kick off return and headed into the end zone dodging Hornets as he went to put six points on the board with 5:04 left in the second quarter. The T-wolves were not able to put two more points on the board.
Giltner marched the ball down the field and at the 8 yard line on first down they fumbled with E-M recovering. The Timberwolves moved the ball and on fourth and one in punt formation they faked the punt and Luzum took the snap for the first down.
Hornet Tucker Gartner stripped the ball from quarterback Spencer Pribyl but then Giltner turned around and fumbled their first snap with Cameron White recovering the ball.
The Hornets came back to score again with 9:22 left in the 3rd while the conversion pass was batted down by White.
Rece Vaught completed a pass to Trevor Sok for another six on the board with 4:53 left in the third quarter and Colton Bossaller broke up the conversion pass.
Giltner marches down the field again during the fourth quarter to make the score 42-14 but the Timberwolves came back with a Pribyl pass to Trever Zelenka who was brought down at the three yard line. Bossaller punched the touchdown ball in with 3:03 left in the quarter and Manning carried the ball in to bring the score to 42-22.
Trevor Linden caught a Giltner pass to bring the score to 48-22 with a failed conversion attempt. A Timberwolf fumble gave Giltner six more points plus conversion bringing the final to 56-22.
The Timberwolves travel to Lawrence-Nelson next week.
Giltner’s #10 Josh Hinrichs has no chance of getting anywhere when he encounters #48 Cameron White and #22 Mitchell Manning.
Timberwolf freshman Max Zeleny chases down Giltner’s #27
Braden Trosper.
#1 Colton Bossaller tries to power through a tackle from Giltern's Dayne Hinrichs.
#1 Colton Bossaller carries the ball through the Giltner players #1 Trevor Sok and #76 Tucker Gartner with Timberwolves #21 Spencer Pribyl and #51 Johnny Babula and #48 Cameron White looking to make some room for Bossaller.
Sophomore Spencer Pribyl debuted at quarterback for the young Timberwolf team.
#22 Mitchell Manning finds a way around Giltner’s #5 Reese Lyon for some ground.
It’s a quarterback keeper for Sophomore quarterback Spencer Pribyl. Surrounded by blockers #1 Colton Bossaller, #27 Joey Bartu and #48 Cameron White. Giltner’s #56 Beau Craig tried for the stop.
