EMF Bobcats Headed to Semi-Final Game

EMF sent a message to North Platte St Pats on the Pats first possession - they made almost no yards due to the Bobcat defense.  They sent North Platte packing and continued putting the screws to the St Pats offense for the rest of the game.

EMF got on the board first with 7:10 left in the first quarter and Breckan Schluter found the end zone for six and for the two point conversion the Bobcats pulled out a tricky reverse play and Draven Payne found crossed the line for the extra two.  With 3:09 left in the first quarter the Pats put up six and two and evened the score.  

The Bobcats hit the air and Tyler Due found Draven Payne for a big gain to scoring position,  Schuter carried it in for six but the extra point didn't fly.  14-8 with 8:20 left in the first half.

St Pats got their offense moving and after the runningback bounced off almost every Bobcat defender they made it to the end zone and kicked the point after making it 14-15.

Before the half ended the Due tossed a pass way downfield to Schluter and he came up with the ball in the end zone with 15 seconds left in the half.  Schluter ran it in for the two point and the score at the half was 22-15

With 9:22 left in the third St Pats scored again and then decided to kick which tied up the score 22-22.  The Bobcats scored again and never let St Pats catch up.  Final score was 44-28 with Schluter finding the end zone each time.  St Pats undefeated season ended.  The Bobcats travel to Crofton on Friday at 6 p.m.

The Exeter-Milligan elementary students sang the National Anthem at a volleyball game earlier this fall.  Thirty-one students were able to participate.  This was the fifth year the elementary students have performed.

 

Students in Mrs. Rachel Haider’s Exeter-Milligan English classes have been working hard studying literature of various genres and gearing up for the Nebraska State Accountability tests in writing (NeSA-W) which all 4th, 8th, and 11th graders take in January. Writing is a school improvement goal for the Timberwolves this year, and thus a major focus across all classes.

 

The first several weeks of the semester we spent learning a writing process to help us generate and then organize our ideas for writing. As we master the writing process we are spending more time producing samples of writing and then working to learn revising and editing strategies. Writing is improving across all grades.

Fourteen 9th-12th grade ladies are busy preparing for One-Act Drama competition starting at the end of November. This year Exeter-Milligan is producing a comedy, “Epic Fail” by Bradley Hayward. The show is about 5 high school students who all fail epically at some everyday task. Plan to attend our Dessert Theatre sponsored with the FCCLA chapter on Nov. 10th at 2:30 pm in the Exeter Site Gym. A small admission fee will be collected. 

 

 

The Teacher position at Exeter Preschool/Playschool for spring semester of 2013-14 school yea r was open. 

 

Exeter-Milligan defeated Hartington Huskies 56-6 in the first round of the football playoffs.
The Timberwolves will meet High Plains Storm in Clarks on November 6 at 6 p.m. 

 

Exeter-Milligan Update: 6th grade science

 

Science Update

The E-M 6th grade science class has been learning about the engineering design process.  They had to work together to build a structure of uncooked spaghetti to hold up a large marshmallow.   They eventually worked through the process to build a prototype of a bicycle helmet to protect an egg.

Exeter's Trunk or Treat

Hot chocolate was perfect for a chilly Trunk or Treat night in Exeter and the EMF Bobcat cheerleaders were on hand to serve it up.

 

With a dusting of snow and temperatures in the 30’s Exeter’s Annual Trunk or Treat was moved inside the Legion on Sunday afternoon.

 

Instead of trunks, kids walked around the Legion to different stations where they got to see scary witches, walk the plank, fill up on hot dogs and cotton candy, play a game of Plinko or tic tac toe and see the dinosaurs at Jurassic Park.  It was a busy evening with over 80 kids who walked through.

 

There were plenty of treats to be hand and the Exeter Community Club sponsored the hot dog meal that was served free to everyone.  Sponsors of the meal and hot chocolate were Generations Bank, Sweetwater Bar, Casey’s and the Exeter Senior Center.

 

Each station could enter a decorating contest and the winners were the Zach Becker family for their Jurassic Park booth and Pirates Lane Strate and Kristine Hankins where you could walk the plank.

We’re not sure how a Chiefs team member (Barrett White) was able to walk the plank but he must have made it safely across to play football.

From 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. the Exeter American Legion was busy with an indoor trunk or treat.
