Exeter-Milligan
7th grade students from
Mr. Jordan Marr & Ms. Lorie Sliefert’s classes celebrated Earth/Arbor Day
by visiting Arbor Day Farms in Nebraska City. Students toured the Lied Lodge
and hiked across the farm learning about the importance of various tree species
and how they are used to assist nature and humans. In the picture, the
class is learning about hazelnut trees and the variety of uses for the
hazelnut.

Exeter-Milligan Update: Poetry Month
Poetry
from Prose
Rhoda
Wahl – ELA 7-12
Junior High students at Exeter-Milligan
High School are celebrating Poetry Month (April) by writing poems about novels
they are reading. Students are discovering new ways to think critically and
creatively by sharing elements of a story in poetic verse instead of prosaic
paragraphs. As you read their poetry, think of your favorite story, or
one that you’ve read recently. What kind of poem would you write?

New York City
There’s a big city
That city is called New York
In this city,
You may see lots of people,
Lots of traffic,
Cars, buildings, houses
And many more
You may hear horns honking
People talking and laughing
There are some nice, beautiful parts of New York,
But there are also the bad.
It is crowding
And sometimes very loud
But all together
It is still an interesting place to be in.

Exeter-Milligan Update: Spanish Notes
Spanish Notes
By Haley Stutzman, Exeter-Milligan Spanish Instructor
It’s hard to believe we have only a few weeks left of the
2016-2017 school year! In the Spanish classroom we have been covering many
topics including numbers to 1,000,000, family member vocabulary, commands, as
well as volunteering vocabulary and talking about how you can help around your
community. In the Spanish 1 classes, they were able to make celebrity family
trees with the new vocabulary they had learned. They always enjoy this
activity. Spanish 2 has been reading a novel so they have been busy. The
Spanish 3 class had a project of making a flyer to show how you can help out in
your community. These last few weeks have been super busy, but I’m hoping we’ll
have a strong finish to this last quarter of school!
Pictured is Sydney Hall with her Spanish 3 flyer.
