EMF Wins First Round of Playoffs in Hartington

The EMF Bobcats traveled to Hartington to play the #5 seed Hartington/Newcastle as the 12th seed in the east bracket for the D-1 8-man playoffs

HN got on the board first running just a minute and forty-one seconds off the clock making it 0-8.

The Bobcats came fighting back with a beautiful pass on second down from Aidan Vavra to Zach Vossler to the 20 yard line.  Mikey Bartu took the ball and was in for six.  Bartu took a direct snap to score the PAT.  8-8

After sending the HN quarterback  to pass under pressure A J Mueller intercepted and gets down to the three yard line but the HN defense stood tough and the Bobcats turn over on downs.

The Bobcat defense was right in their faces and Zach Vossler disrupts the pass causing a fumble and scoops up the ball and scores 14-8 with with 2:24 left in the first quarter.

Hartington/Newcastle returns the punt for a touchdown making it 14 all with no PAT scored.

To start the second half AJ Mueller handles the kick off return and gets to Bobcat territory.  On the first down Bartu skips multiple blocks and is in for 6 and 2 22-14

8:31 left in the half and Bartu is in again for 6 and Mason Vossler tosses a pass to Hunter Svehla for the 2 30-14 with 3:14 left in the third.

The Bobcats force three and out for the Wildcats and at 4th and three the Bobcats jump the line and get pushed back to the 9 but Bartu powers through for six and Mueller gets the PAT.  38-14 with 3:14 left in the third.

Wildcats are facing a fourth down and try to go for it but Brett Kallhoff gets a big sack and the Bobcats get the ball on their own 25.  Bartu takes the ball downton on the first down and the score is 44-14.

On the kickoff Cohen Harre sends the ball straight at the front line of Hartington Newcastle and they fumble with EMF coming up with the ball.

Mason Vossler keeps the ball and is in for six but two point is no good.  50-14 with a running clock and 10:51 left in the game.  Hartington scored with 5:05 left in the game making it 50-20. 

The Bobcats are headed back up north to Stanton on Friday night to play at 7 p.m.  This game will be a rematch of last years State Championship game.
