The last couple of weeks the 3rd grade has made friends with another 3rd grade class from Mississippi. We have been contacting our friends in Mississippi through Skype. Skype is a computer program that allows you to talk and see other people using a web camera. We have used our time with them to do some math activities. One activity we have done involves a sheet with numbers from 0-99. Our class and our friends from Mississippi each pick a number. We then take turns asking each other questions back and forth to figure out each others number. Questions include if the number is even or odd, if it has a tens digit, and if it is higher or lower then another number. This is helping students look at numbers in different ways. It has also been fun to interact with another 3rd grade class through Skype and seeing the different things they are learning as well!
