Exeter Aquatic Center adds additional services

The Exeter Village Board voted Tuesday night to offer private parties at the new aquatic center for a cost of just $35.00 per hour. Anyone interested in hosting a party should contact Manager Jackie Miller for available times and dates.

Also announced by the board are the official dates for swimming lessons this summer. The lessons will be offered July 20 - 31 at scheduled times throughout the day. Lessons will be $20.00 per child and reservations can be made by contacting Jackie Miller at the pool or through the Village Office. Shelli Mueller will be conducting the Red Cross approved lessons.

Exeter-Milligan graduate honored with two national scholarships

Kayla Becker, a 2009 graduate of Exeter-Milligan school, recently received word that she had been selected for two national scholarships.
She was notified that she will be receiving the Knights of Columbus Anthony J. LaBella Endowed Scholarship which is a $1500 scholarship, renewable yearly.
Kayla also learned that she had been selected to receive the Military Ex-Prisoners of War Foundation $2000.00 scholarship which is also renewable yearly.
Kayla will be a freshman at the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, MN in the fall, majoring in Psychology.

Another successful Blood Drive

The Bloodmobile in Exeter on Friday, June 26th collected 28 pints of blood for the American Red Cross.

The event, coordinated by Doris Hall and Ruth Ekeler, had 35 donors come with six deferrals and one non productive.

The ladies from the United Church of Christ in Exeter provided the lunch with Norm Yound, Sterling Dyer, Alva Smith and Butch Jansen serving as the unloaders. In the canteen were Elva McBride, Barb Becker and Dianne Hanson.

Mary Wince donated orange juice, Erma Adamson donated the cups, the First National Bank in Exeter donated napkins and the Exeter Care Center donated goodie bags and bottled water. Donating cookies were Cindy Carrigan, Pat Schoenholz, Eyvonne Johnson and Doris Hall.

Several donors reached milestones in their donations including Lynn Strate who earned a one gallon pin. Two gallon pins were earned by David Bristol, Anita Mueller and Kurt Kleinschmidt. Lois Thomsen received her four gallon pin.

Assisting as greeters were Bonnie Cudaback, Marci Manwarren and Tess Moor. Escorts for the afternoon event were Sharon Dyer, Frances Becwar and Evelyn Michl.

The next area blood drive will be held in Fairmont on Friday, August 28th noon to 5:30 p.m.

Exeter Public Library Summer Reading Program Finale


The audience loved the play about sharks and fishes (just like the three little pigs).

The older group of kids in second and third grade performed a play for the kindergarten and first grade class.

The Exeter Library Program "Be Creative at your library" ended on Monday, June 29th with a special program for the kindergarten through third graders. The students enjoyed a bean bag color toss, a game of musical chairs and then the second and third graders performed a play they had practiced for the younger group. The students had the opportunity to learn about all of the different facets of creativity and the arts. After the program prizes including a puzzle and book bags were drawn for, bean bags and puppets were passed out and all of the participants enjoyed fudgsicle treats.
