Exeter-Milligan Update: Industrial Tech Projects

Dean Filipi’s Industrial Tech students at Exeter-Milligan are taking advantage of the new plasma-cutting table.  The student’s design their projects using the computer software provided by the plasma table manufacturer.  Once the design process is complete, the students then load their designs on the computer connected to the plasma cutter.  So far, the students have created some amazing projects and hope to continue their learning to design even more intricate projects.

Exeter-Milligan places at Meridian Invite

Exeter-Milligan tracksters competed in the rescheduled Meridian Invite.  The meet originally scheduled for Wednesday was moved to Monday and then moved back to Wednesday.  The boys team just had seven team members present as several were gone for the FFA convention.  Despite their numbers the team placed fifth out of a team of nine.  The girls team finished a strong third, just three points behind McCool Junction.

6^th Grade News at Exeter-Milligan

            The sixth grade class at Exeter-Milligan has accomplished many great things so far this year! In math, all of the students have mastered the multiplication facts from 0-12, which has really helped them to become more successful mathematicians. The students are also becoming more effective writers, as they have learned how to write complete sentences, create topic sentences and conclusions, organize their paragraphs, edit their work, and more. Members of the sixth grade class are currently working on informative paragraphs about an animal that interests them. The class was required to research the animal, take organized notes, cite their sources, and plan their paragraphs before beginning their rough drafts. We look forward to seeing the finished products! Additionally, both group and individual projects have been an enjoyable experience for students, as they have learned more about the parts of speech, ancient civilizations, American history, job careers, and much more. Currently, students are creating informational posters in science that concern extreme weather. Projects like this provide students an opportunity develop research skills, use their creativity, organize content, and present their knowledge in front of an audience. As the year comes to a close, the sixth graders will be taking part in the Health Rocks program, complete state testing, attend a field trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo, compete in the annual elementary field day, and continue to prepare for Junior High. Students are ready to finish their elementary days on a positive note and move on to the next level in their educational careers!

In his directorial debut, podcast personality Johnny Babula oversees his set, coaching actors Mitchell Manning and Nick Hayek on their lines and actions.  Cameraman James Becker is ready to start filming for their upcoming TV commercial promoting the Entrepreneurship class’s school business.

Exeter-Milligan Pre-Contest/Spring Concert

The Junior High choir opened the spring concert at Exeter-Milligan High School.

The Exeter-Milligan Junior-Senior High Choir and Band held their pre-contest spring concert on Monday, March 25 in Exeter.

The Junior High Choir opened the concert singing “Hitch A Ride,” and “Seize the Day” directed by Mrs. Angie Murphy.

Next, playing their contest piece, were a Brass Quintet comprised of seniors Trever Zelenka, Mitchell Manning, Joel Klemm, Josie Kresak and Spencer Pribyl.  They performed “Cantilena.”

The Women’s Ensemble did a beautiful rendition of “Coming Home,” by Jay Althouse followed by the Clarinet Choir comprised of Casey Jindra, Macy Due, Kole Svec, Jasmine Turrubiates, Olivea Swanson, Jozie Kanode and Malorie Staskal who performed “Chanson Triste.”

The Senior High Choir performed “Misty Morning,” by Carl Nygard.

The Junior-Senior high band played their fun piece, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” before performing their two contest pieces, “Circus Days,” and “Invicta.”

District Music Contest will be held April 11 and 12^th at Sutton High School.
