The Bobcats got an eight point lead to start the conference championship game but couldn't hold on to it against a tough Johnson-Brock team. Final score 34-48

 

EMF win two at conference

Even though EMF was the #2 seed in the conference they got to travel to Falls City for all of their conference games.  First up was Falls City Sacred Heart, a team they had a running clock against earlier in the season.  A different Falls City team showed up at home out for blood.  The Bobcats came out on top 68-56.  Next up were the Pawnee City Indians the Bobcats had defeated in a bloodbath on Friday night in Pawnee City.  PC was out for revenge but toned down the over top physicality a bit and the Bobcats got the W again 73-59 to head to the final, a third matchup up with D-1 back to back state basketball champions.

 

EMF Girls go 0-2 in Conference Tournament

The EMF Lady Bobcats struggled in conference play drawing Diller-Odell first but they got to play at home because EMF was an alternate site.  Diller-Odell pressed almost the entire game and were the winners 30-52. They played again Friday against HTRS in Friend again but lost a close game 27-36

Exeter-Milligan’s 6th and 7th graders are wrapping up their Careers module with an exciting opportunity to connect with professionals. EducationQuest and Nebraska 4-H organized Career Live Chats, bringing 19 speakers from various fields to share insights with students.

Each speaker, all Nebraska-based professionals, discussed their careers, the skills required, and the classes or clubs students can join now to prepare for future opportunities. The event provided valuable guidance, helping students explore potential career paths and make informed choices for their futures.

Obituary Alice P. Hall

 Alice Pauline (Vinson) Hall was born on December 31, 1957, in Los Angeles, California. She was the third of 5 children born to Albert P. Vinson and Dorothy (Williams) Vinson. Alice passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 30, 2025 at the age of 67 years.

In June of 1976, the family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she met and married the love of her life Wayne Lee Hall. They were united in marriage on July 24, 1980 and made their home in Exeter, Nebraska. To this union 2 sons were born, Wayne Lee Hall Jr. and Jonathan Wayne Hall. The boys and Wayne were her life. Alice was a devoted wife and mother. She was kept busy going to their school functions and activities.

Alice worked for the State of Nebraska in York, Nebraska for Region V Services for over 20 years as a respite caregiver. Alice loved her job and the clients she worked with.

Alice is loved by many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne of 42 years; father, Albert P. Vinson; mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Clifford Carlson; brother, Albert P. Vinson Jr.; father-in-law, Leonard Hall; niece, Jennifer Hitchcock; brother-in-law, Mike Kahler and sister-in-law, Gayle (Hall) Hitchcock.

Alice is survived by her sons, Wayne (Tiffany) Hall Jr. of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jonathan Hall of Exeter, Nebraska; sister, Allean (Bill) Bolick of Arkansas; brother, Rick (Joyce) Tarver of Lincoln, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Doris Hall of Exeter, Nebraska; brothers-in-law; Warren (Vicky) Hall of Grafton, Nebraska, Wade Hall of Exeter, Nebraska, Wynn (Deb) Hall of Palmyra, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Diane (Alan) Dux of Fairbury, Nebraska, Marian (Hall) Kahler of Fairmont, Nebraska; grandchildren, Katie Vinson, Ameron Vinson, Amarah Carr and Preston Carr; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Obituary Joan M. Dumpert

 Joan M. Dumpert was born June 11, 1934, to Walter A. and Rita Amy (Walker) Dumpert in York, Nebraska and passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Heritage Crossings in Geneva, Nebraska at the age of 90 years. She was the oldest of two children. Her younger brother Gene passed away.

Joan was a farm girl and enjoyed living on her parent's farm outside of Exeter. She was educated in Exeter and after graduating, pursued a career in education at Doane College in Crete. She taught in Exeter for several years and later accepted a teaching position in Lincoln. There she taught elementary students and had a wonderful time engaging with young people. She had fond memories of attending morning Mass with her Aunt Dorothy and having breakfast at the Capitol cafeteria before going to school.

After a car accident, Joan eventually returned to Exeter to live with her parents. She embraced her hometown and was happy to assist her parents as they entered their elderly years.

She was a devout Catholic who was a faithful member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Exeter. Joan was dedicated to her nightly prayers, not for herself, but for others.

Joan had a multitude of friends and enjoyed many happy moments with them. She was an avid letter writer who spent hours corresponding with friends and family in Nebraska and throughout the United States.

Never one to ask for attention, she was the first to acknowledge the accomplishments of others. Her humility, faith, and kindness will be her legacy. She requested that no obituary should be written for her, but it is impossible not to give her the acknowledgement she rightfully deserves.

And so, we all know that we are better people because we knew her and loved her. There is no doubt that she is resting easy in heaven and continues to look out for all of us.

Bobcats bring home a win from Pawnee City

It was a rough one in Pawnee City Friday night but the Bobcats came out on top.  EMF met the Indians in the MUDECAS tournament and the final in that game was 68-28.  Friday night the Indians were out for revenge and the number of fouls was an indication of their play.  By the end of the game four of their players had fouled out with one starter at four fouls while the Bobcats had only one player at four fouls. Final score was 63-51.  The Bobcats open conference tournament play on Tuesday in Falls City against Falls City Sacred Heart.

 

EMF girls break losing streak at Pawnee City

The Bobcats battled the Indians in Pawnee City Friday night and came away the winners breaking a nine game losing streak 36-29.  They begin conference play on Monday night in Friend.

 

EMF Boys beat Heartland

The Bobcats had no trouble handling the Huskies at home on Thursday night.  Final score for the win was 51-37.
