EMF continues run in playoffs

EMF made a statement Friday night in Milligan.  They shut out Shelby Rising City 26-0 to punch their ticket to the next round of D-1 playoffs.  The Bobcats started their statement game with holding the Huskies on 4th and inches on their first drive. 

They turned around and on their first drive the Bobcats ran some time of the clock and scored with 6:42 left in the first quarter.  Breckan Schluter and Mikey Bartu carried the ball and Schluter found the end zone making it 6-0.  The PAT failed but less that two minutes later Schluter found the end zone again making it 12-0.

With just 1:59 in the half it was fourth down the 40 yard line and Schluter got loose and ran all the way into the end zone making it 18-0 at the half.

In the second half the Bobcats were just short of a first down. Third down, Tyler Due is being hounded and the ball gets loose, Bartu picks it up and gets the first down. Another highlight was an Aidan Vavra interception. With 6:02 left in the third quarter Schulter was in for six and a Due pass to Spencer Eberspacher tacked on two to make the final score 26-0. 

 

EMF Lady Bobcats end season against Deshler

EMF Lady Bobcats had an extremely tough sub-district.  Including the Bobcats (who the OWH ranked in the top ten) BDS and Deshler were included in their sub-district and in the OWH top ten.  EMF had already met Deshler twice during the regular season and had just fallen short both times.  Their last meeting was at the Silver Lake Quad were the Bobcats won the first set but lost the next two sets.  At Shickley Monday night the Bobcats won the third set but dropped the first two and the fourth to end their season: 15-25,21-25,29-27, 18-25.

Exeter Public Library announced that they would have a Halloween Story Hour.

 

This year, the Exeter-Milligan Elementary has been very fortunate to go 1:1 with iPads.  In Mrs. Allison Brahm’s 6th grade class, we have been using them to review for tests, help improve our writing, and practice vocabulary. Pictured are Ryan Sharp, Anna Sluka and Caitlin Murphy from the Novels class using their iPads to scan QR codes for a writing activity. 

 

31 Exeter-Milligan staff members participated in the Lee National Denim Day on Tuesday, October 9.  This was held in conjunction with the volleyball team's Pink Out game.  Staff members contributed $5 in exchange for wearing jeans to work that day.  $155 was raised and will be sent to the American Cancer Society via Lee National Denim Day.  This was the eleventh year the school has participated. They have raised $1750 in those eleven years.

 

Dave and Pat Erdkamp had to clear some wall space in their home recently for a new addition.  The delivery they had been anticipating for over a year arrived recently, Dave’s bear trophy.

 

In August of 2012, Dave and Pat headed to Minnesota where Dave had contacted a guide to make his dream of hunting a bear a reality.  They drove to the town of Grand Marais and Dave finally got to do something “I have wanted to do since the 1970’s  It was on my bucket list and I just started at the top and worked my way down.”

 

Late this summer Felix Richter made that trek from his home in Munich, Germany to his home for the year in Nebraska with the Paul Sheffield family.

At Exeter-Milligan Richter is taking American History, English, Math and science and likes it all so far. “I really like having computers at school to keep all of your notes together, that’s good.”

 

He started playing on the football team but switched to being a student manager when a past injury haunted him.  He’s really looking forward to basketball season which was his sport in Germany.
