1st Grade News

Exeter-Milligan First Grade Teacher
The 1st grade class has been
learning about the design process as part of our Science Unit. They were tasked
with designing a boat out of modeling clay that could float. With their
partners, they worked together to create their designs. The first couple of designs
sank, so together they had to problem-solve before rebuilding and retesting.
Too heavy? Not enough structure to keep the water out? Cracks? Then, they were
put to the test to see whose boat could not only float but withstand the added
weight of “cannon balls.” They all passed the challenge!
