Exeter-Milligan Update: Music

Music Update

By Mark Perez, Exeter-Milligan K-12 Music Instructor

The Exeter-Milligan music classroom has been filled with the sounds of the holidays this past month! The K-6 Christmas Concert is on December 14th, and the 7-12 Christmas Concert is on December 20th, both at 7:00pm with cookies to follow!

Elementary students have enjoyed singing Christmas tunes and creating their own actions for the songs. You can also expect to see boomwhackers and ukuleles at this concert as well! Additionally, some beginning 5th Grade band students will be recognized for what they’ve accomplished on their instruments so far this semester.

The 7-12 Band will be performing a plethora of your favorite Christmas classics and songs to enjoy. Ukuleles will once again make an appearance with the Junior High Choir performing Christmas Songs you don’t typically hear on ukulele!

We hope to see you at our performances in support of our students! Happy Holidays!

Throwback Thursday, December 25, 2011

12/25/2011

The entrance signs are evidence that progress continues at the new Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva.  Outside the helicopter pad is ready, landscaping is complete and the new exterior signs are being completed.  The glass for the doorways is being installed and finish work continues inside.  The hospital expects to open its doors on March first, three months ahead of schedule.

The Exeter-Milligan special education department received five ipods this year.  One of the apps that we use with the 8th grade and 10th grade special education students is the Flashcard app.  This is used to study their English vocabulary words.  The ipod makes it more interesting than using the traditional paper flashcards.  We also downloaded an app called Drivers Education that will assist students who will be getting their license or studying for Drivers Education class.  Other apps we have students use to help review skills include Algebra, Coin Math, Bills and Coins, Freddy Fraction, Count Coins, Apples in Hour Hands, Little Matchups Count Money, Pizza Fractions, States N Capitals, Capitals, Math Stripes, and Grammar Up.
