 The Timberwolves opened their volleyball season at home with a win against Hampton.  It was a clean sweep for Exeter-Milligan over Hampton 25 - 19 and 25-20. 
Hampton lost to BDS before Exeter-Milligan took the court again.  BDS came out strong winning the first set before the Lady Timberwolves came back strong to win the second set.  The third set turned the Exeter gym into a battle ground with the Timberwolves making a case for a strong comeback but falling just short as BDS won 25-23.

Timberwolves Fall in Giltner 60-20

Exeter-Milligan traveled to Giltner Friday night to meet the Hornets at home.  The Timberwolves put together a drive that lasted half of the first quarter and put six points up on the board.  The drive got new life when Giltner roughed the punter and gave the Timberwolves the ball back on a fifteen yard penalty.  Here quarterback Spencer Pribyl hands off the ball to runningback Mitchell Manning (#22) who follows the block of fullback Joey Bartu (#27).  Max Zeleny (#85) blocks on the line.

Exeter-Milligan Eclipse Extravaganza

Exeter-Milligan has been playing for the solar eclipse even before school got out last year.

The student body, along with faculty and staff, spent the entire school day focused on science experiments and the solar eclipse event.

The morning started with new Timberwolf eclipse shirts for everyone before the Exeter-Milligan band marched in front of the school to start the event.

The students were divided into groups led by a high school student and then rotated between the nearly 20 science stations spread out over the inside and outside of the school.

The Kindergarten through eighth grade students participated in hands on learning experiences at almost every station.  Art was involved as the students made galaxy bottles using glitter, cotton balls and paint inside an empty pop bottle.

The students traced their shadows throughout the day, played with solar powered toys, made moon sand and learned about the phases of the moon through Oreos.

High school students led the different stations showing the students how to make a toilet paper model of the solar students and going through the scientific specifics of the eclipse.

Exeter-Milligan Principal Laura Kroll was pleased at how the day went, “Our high school students really stepped up and did an excellent job.  I knew they would do a good job but I am really impressed at how they interacted with the younger students.”

The morning clouds didn’t allow a few of the activities to take place like sun printing and the solar oven (for s’mores) but the students had multiple opportunities for learning.

After eating a lunar lunch which included rocket dogs, cosmic carrots, sun chips and galaxy cake the entire student body gathered on the football field while science teacher, Mr. Matt Nicholas shared more fun eclipse facts and directed the students in watching the event.  The students were given the all clear to take off their glasses during the full eclipse time and reminded to replace the glasses when the moon moved back across the sun.

The afternoon was spent learning to moonwalk, playing Saturn’s ring toss (with cones and hula hoops) and a musical squirt gun game.

The inside of the track started to get crowded with Exeter-Milligan students prepping for the total eclipse viewing.

 Tossing Saturn’s rings was one of the afternoon activities for the Exeter-Milligan students.

Exeter gets two minutes of totality

Exeter had several extra visitors to view the eclipse on Monday.  Some even came up from towns like Beatrice that were overcrowded, cloudy and rainy to view in Exeter.  The skies were cloudy for most of the morning and just as the moon got within 15 minutes of covering the sun completely the skies cleared up for a perfectly defined shot of the eclipse.  When looking at the partial coverage in Exeter, viewers were able to see some of the clouds move across the moon and soon making for an extra special bonus.  Also, the 360 degree sunset was visible as the crickets began chirping as the skies darkened and cooled.
