FACS News: FACS 7 is finishing their chef aprons and will plunge into some basic cooking skills, FACS 8 is working on their cooking skills, Foods class has been exploring the world of "Eggs" by making individual omelets, poached eggs in water and in the egg poaching pan, Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise sauce, Creme Brulee', Deviled Eggs, Sausage Egg Boats, and Breakfast pizza. Our next unit will be meats, where we will explore various cuts and types of each beef, pork and chicken. FACS II has been exploring the resources we have available to us, especially our use of time. Child Development is designing their nursery and calculating the cost of basic supplies needed to set up the nursery and the first year of life. FACS 9 is wrapping up conflict continuum and will then start the EverFi Financial Literacy program.

Exeter-Milligan Update: Junior High Track

The Exeter-Milligan JH girls and boys track season is underway starting their workouts the first part of March.  Pictured below is Braden Capek working on the Discus.  The JH has 28 boys and girls out this year. The coaches this year are Jackson Krejci, Lisa Kanode and Brian Murphy. Their first meet is the Exeter-Milligan Invite on April 4^th, which will take place at McCool Junction.  The JH has great potential this season. We are all looking forward to a great spring! 

Exeter-Milligan Update: Fifth Grade

Brooke Soukup’s 5th grade class at Exeter-Milligan just finished up a unit in Social Studies over The American Revolution.  We discussed events and actions leading up to the war, different people who made profound impacts during the war, and the important battles that took place.  To end this unit, we created a courtroom in our classroom and performed a skit that was in Britain's point of view!  Our jury member listened to the point made by the colonists and the British citizens.  At the end, they had to make their own decision on whether or not Britain was guilty or not guilty.

Exeter-Milligan Update: Math Musings

The algebra 1 classes at Exeter-Milligan are studying polynomials.  We have been learning all of the rules for working with exponents.  The students have enjoyed using their computers or phones to practice and review the rules for exponents with Kahoot games.  Pictured are Casey Jindra, Brock Steuben, Jaiden Papik, Daisy Kanode, and Georgia Meyer.

Exeter Village Clerk Honored at Conference

Exeter Village Clerk Becky Erdkamp was honored as the Outstanding Village Clerk of the year on Friday March 24 at the Nebraska Municipal Clerks’ Association Institute banquet.

Exeter Chairman of the Village Board Alan Michl nominated Erdkamp for the award and was present to see her receive the plaque.

Erdkamp knew she had been nominated as she “had to fill out a questionnaire regarding village projects, educations sessions/conferences attended, and community/religious/civic activities that I am involved in.”

There were 24 other nominees and the nominating committee reviews all the applications and chooses the clerk at each population size to receive the awards.

Erdkamp was “truly honored that I was selected.  I do take my job seriously and try to protect the interests of the village.”

Michl felt Erdkamp was very deserving of the award, ”The board and the community are very proud of what she has accomplished. Especially for her to be recognized by her peers, that was quite an accomplishment. I feel she does a good job not only on the paperwork in the office but also dealing with the public and the problems that come along.  She has done a commendable job at that.”

Erdkamp, an Exeter High graduate, celebrated her tenth anniversary as Village Clerk in February.  

Each year the Nebraska Clerks have an annual institute and academy that is facilitated by UNO. The Association works to support and educate the clerks and Erdkamp has enjoyed spending time at each of the conferences she has been too.  “It’s always educational.  This year the class I attended on setting sewer and water rates was very informative as the village is currently working through this process.”

Erdkamp specifically enjoyed the information shared by one of the speakers, the Pilger Village Clerk, who spoke to the group about dealing with a tornado and its’ after effects.
