Exeter-Milligan Gym Getting Ready for New Bleacher

The old bleachers in the Exeter-Milligan Exeter site gymnasium were removed this summer and the area is be prepared for new bleachers to be installed.

Odegeo. . . Leadership for Fillmore County Holds Graduation

The 2014-15 Odegeo.  . .Leadership for Fillmore County participants graduated from the nine-month leadership course on June 16^th.  The event was held at the VFW in Geneva.

The speaker for the graduation was John E. Nelson a graduate of Geneva who served as a State Senator from the Omaha area for two terms. He was appointed by Governor Heinemann as the Lt. Governor of Nebraska in September in 2014 and held that position until January 8, 2015.  His remarks centered on how important it is to have good communication to be an effective leader.

Patt Lentfer, FCDC Director thanked the Leadership Development Committee for all their work to plan and execute the nine-month leadership program. Those committee members were Todd Boller, Susan Johnson, Tiya Johnson, Bryce Kassik, Andrew Ley, Norman Marks, Dorene Sattler, Rhonda Stokebrand, and Brandy VanDeWalle. 

Bryce Kassik introduced the 2014-2015 Odegeo leadership class and their sponsors.

Bryce Kassik also recognized the 31 Fillmore County businesses who had helped sponsor lunches and snacks during the leadership sessions as well as the graduation lunch.  Even more businesses and organizations shared information about their entities throughout the year as the Leadership class traveled from place to place learning about the various aspects of Fillmore County.

                                   

As each member received their plaque from Todd Boller or Rhonda Stokebrand they gave a statement of what the Leadership sessions had given them.  They then stated how they will use the knowledge and skills they learned to get involved in their community, work on an issues, run for office or serve on a board. 

The Fillmore County Odegeo Leadership project is a county-wide leadership program designed to identify, educate and develop leaders within Fillmore County.  The class meets nine times a year to develop an awareness of the Fillmore County community by examining the major systems that contribute to patterns of life in the area.

Exeter Boy Scouts Attend Camp Cornhusker

Members of Boy Scout Troop 218 enjoyed a week at Camp Cornhusker near Humboldt.  They are pictured from the left:  Ben Bartu, Braden Capek, Tyler Sysel and Blake Meyer.  On Thursday, the Order of the Arrow tour stopped at camp and set up a traveling show for the scouts to tour.  The Order of the Arrow is the honor society of the Boy Scouts of America.  The Order of the Arrow celebrates their 100th anniversary this year.

E-M Volleyball, Football and Basketball Teams Serve as Grand Marshall's at June Jubilee

 Sunday's parade at June Jubilee was delayed with wet weather but the wait was worth it for many.  Above Exeter-Milligan boys football and basketball state champion team members ride as Grand Marshalls in the parade along with the volleyball team who placed third at the state tournament (below).
