Monday afternoon a group gathered at the Exeter Care Center to remember those they lost this year. Residents, staff and family members gathered outside the center and each held balloons representing those who had lost their lives last year while residents at the Care Center. Lots of other balloons were let go as the residents each held several in memory of the eight who lost their lives last year. Adminstrator Melanie Ruhl read the names of those who they lost last year and then read a poem that recalled the ways those lost will be remembered throughout the year.

Exeter-Milligan Kindergarten Graduation
The students performed "If You're Happy and You Know" and moved their tassels over as the shouted "First Grade." Parents, family and friends were invited back to the Kindergarten classroom for cookies and punch. More pictures are available in a slideshow on the sidebar.
Pool Getting Closer, But Not Ready Yet
The bathhouse is getting much of the focus this week as fixtures are placed and wiring is worked on. Part of the pool contract was the painting of the pool. It has been primed and the epoxy coat is being applied. The strong winds this week have been challenging. The pump contractor continues to work on the equipment. The ladders are installed as are the poles for the new shades.

New trees are planted at the Exeter Cemetery
From the left, Brian Moor, Joe Dinneen (on tractor) and Mitch Schlegelmilch move a new tree to its appointed location.
The Exeter Cemetery Board along with plenty of volunteers spent Friday afternoon planting a variety of 23 new trees in planned locations throughout the cemetery.
The trees arrived in the afternoon and holes were drilled by Ed Mark in the exact specified locations. Each tree was planted according to the plan and the directions were carefully followed.
The volunteers worked until after 7 p.m. to finish planting, staking, fertilizing and watering each of the trees. More volunteers are needed to commit to watering the trees and helping to remove the dead and dying trees. Contact JoDee Mika at 421 North River Ave, Exeter, NE 68351 or Barry Murphy at 266-4161. Donations are also welcome.
